Spring is widely considered one of the most comfortable seasons to travel around Georgia. After winter, the country quickly turns green, tourist numbers remain relatively low, and pleasant temperatures make it easy to spend long days exploring cities and enjoying the outdoors.

It's an excellent time for itineraries that include Tbilisi, Mtskheta, Kakheti, and Borjomi. By May, most of Eastern Georgia is comfortable to explore, and the landscapes are at their most vibrant. If you're visiting Georgia for the first time, spring is almost always an excellent choice.

Summer — the season for mountains and longer adventures
Summer is when most of Georgia's high mountain roads and hiking routes become accessible. This is the best time to visit Kazbegi, Svaneti, Tusheti, and other mountain regions.

Keep in mind, however, that Tbilisi and Kakheti can become extremely hot during the summer months. If you're planning a sightseeing-heavy itinerary, it's best to schedule walks and outdoor activities for the early morning or evening. On the other hand, summer is perfect if you'd like to combine exploring the country with a seaside vacation.

Autumn — the season of wine and gastronomy
Many travelers consider autumn the best time of year to visit Georgia. The summer heat gradually fades, the landscapes turn golden, and Kakheti celebrates Rtveli, the country's traditional grape harvest festival. This is the ideal season for anyone interested in Georgian wine, local cuisine, and authentic traditions.

September and the first half of October also offer pleasant weather for exploring the mountains while making it comfortable to travel between different regions.

Winter — a completely different side of Georgia

The ideal period is from July through September. Most mountain roads are open, and the chances of stable weather are significantly higher.

3.If you'd like to discover Georgian wine
Plan your journey for September. This is when Rtveli takes place—the traditional grape harvest festival, when wineries are especially welcoming to visitors.

4.If you'd like to combine your trip with the sea
For a vacation in Batumi, July through September is the best choice. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere with fewer tourists, September is particularly appealing.

5.If you're planning a corporate retreat
May, June, and September are especially well suited for corporate programs. Comfortable temperatures make it easy to combine business sessions, sightseeing, gastronomy, and regional excursions without an overly demanding schedule.

Mistake #1. Looking only at the temperature
Weather is only one part of the picture. It's equally important to consider whether mountain roads are open, how comfortable long drives will be, and which regions you want to visit.

Mistake #2. Assuming the climate is the same across the country
On the same day, it might be 32°C (90°F) in Tbilisi, 18°C (64°F) in Kazbegi, while Batumi is experiencing rain. Always check the forecast for each region individually.

Mistake #3. Trying to see everything in a single trip
Georgia may look small on the map, but it's remarkably diverse. It's often better to leave part of your itinerary for another visit than spend half your vacation on the road.
