What you need to know before traveling to Georgia

Georgia is often seen as an easy country to explore independently. Distances on the map appear short, accommodation and taxis are easy to find in major cities, and most landmarks have long been featured in every travel guide. However, once you begin planning your itinerary, you'll quickly discover that the number of kilometers rarely reflects the actual travel time. Weather conditions can vary dramatically between neighboring regions, and the desire to see everything often turns a relaxing vacation into a series of long drives.

Preparing for a trip to Georgia doesn't require complicated planning. In most cases, you only need to check the current entry requirements, choose the right season, decide how you'll pay for everyday expenses and travel between regions, and build an itinerary that reflects not only distances on the map but also your own pace of travel.
